     STAGE FOR ABOLITION OF SLAVE TRADE IN EAST AFRICA


Moresby treaty . in june 1822 the british governor of mauritius sent captain fairfax moresby to persuade the anti-slavery treaty stopped slave trade route to india also restricted french carrying slaves to mauritius and reunion or to west indies. the treaty allowed the sultan to use slaves witjin east african and arabia and persia. in 1839 the same agreement was made in wich the sultan was restricted to sell slaves out of the muslim world

hamerton treaty of  1845. the treaty was signed by colonel atkins hamertons, with the sultan of zanzibar , hamerton died in 1857 . the treaty tried to limit the trade out of the sultan east  africa possesion and forbade slaving dhows north of brava

frere treaty was signed on march 5 , 1873 between sir bartle frere with sultan barghash who came to power in 1870 when majid died.
